SLIMY VS CRUNCHY!
Whoever wins, you'll still get sick!
People who've known me for a long time might remember an art trade I did with Arbok waaaay back in 2008.

Several months ago we decided to do another, and he finished his in no time in May.

I, however, dragged like a rusty anchor through mine. I couldn't even get started because I had no idea what to do. I wanted to do something interesting and creative with the characters, but I just plain couldn't think of anything. So naturally it took me 3 freakin' months to come up with something and 3 weeks to complete it thanks to work, school, and other art obligations. It's not even as creative as I wanted it to be, but hey, it's something, and I love how it turned out.
For those who don't get it, It's a reference to The Lion King 1 1/2 (because Meekat characters are forever connected to The Lion King in my mind), in which Timon and Pumba have a heated argument about which is better, slimy bugs or crunchy bugs. And since both Meerkats and Armadillos live in deserts and eat bugs, I figure the reenactment was more than called for.
Artistically, I love how this turned out. Not only did it show me how much I've improved since I last drew Arbok (4 years does a fair amount), It also helped me play around with more photoshop features and combine them to make coloring easier. and require less cleanup. I also played around with coloring and shading techniques, adding a little more color to the piece, but for the most part I fell back on the same methods I've been using.
Admittedly the background was an afterthought, but I still like how it came out, and the text was rushed, but it still works out. I put most of my work and time into the lineart and colors, reworking Arbok's design to look more like a meerkat (and not just the Disney kind) was a challenge but I figured it for the most part. His face in particular was a nightmare to reshape.
Regardless, I no longer have this lingering art trade hanging over my head, and even though I'm late, I still have tons of fun making it. I just wish I had more time to do things like this.
Also, Arbok, bro, you gotta upgrade your reference sheet. The old one with that weird pink vest thing is crazy outdated.
Comments and criticism are much appreciated!

I love the coloring and shading you did on this! I remember when you were trying to figure out a design for Dylan and I like what you decided on.
